Responsibilities

The OMRF Clinical Immunology Laboratory is seeking a conscientious, highly motivated, organized individual to perform high complexity testing to detect myositis-specific or myositis-associated autoantibodies in patient samples. This laboratory serves as a tertiary referral center for complex autoantibody testing to aid in the diagnosis and prognosis of autoimmune rheumatic disease patients, primarily inflammatory myositis. Duties include tissue culture, western blotting, immunoprecipitation, electrophoresis, autoradiography, result interpretation, and standard lab functions. This position will focus particular attention on RNA immunoprecipitation. Data will need to be entered into a standard database. Candidates need to be able to work independently with minimal supervision, but also have a team orientation. Candidates must be able to adhere to the College of American Pathologist (CAP) guidelines and University Radioactivity guidelines.

Minimum Qualifications

BA/BS/MLT degree typically in one of the biological sciences, physics, or chemistry or equivalent years of professional, relevant laboratory experience.


Basic knowledge of Internet software and Microsoft Office software. Must be detail-oriented and be able to work independently as well as a member of a team.
Ability to write reports and correspondence.
Ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work.
Ability to communicate effectively with coworkers and supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

Five years of relevant laboratory bench experience.
Fluency with Microsoft Excel and Word.
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certification or other professional licensure in a related field.

Work Hours

Typically Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM. Must be willing to work occasional overtime, including after hours, weekends and holidays.
