Responsibilities

The Chiao Lab is looking for a motivated postdoctoral scientist to join the team. The Chiao Lab uses mouse models to study molecular mechanisms of cardiac aging and age-related cardiovascular disease and identify potential therapeutic targets. The postdoctoral scientist will work on a NIH-funded study to understand the regulation and role of mitochondrial NAD+ maintenance in cardiac aging. Incumbents at this level plan, design and conduct research experiments; manage research projects; prepare reports and papers for publication, presentation and future research; contribute to grant writing and are encouraged to write applications for fellowships.

 

The Aging and Metabolism Research Program and the Chiao Lab are committed to training postdoctoral fellows for an independent research career. OMRF postdoctoral scientists are also encouraged to assemble individual advisory committees to receive personalized career guidance.

Minimum Qualifications

Ph.D. in biological science, biochemistry, or other relevant areas, M.D., or equivalent. Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively present and exchange ideas, and to write scientific papers.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in aging or cardiovascular disease research is highly desirable.
