Responsibilities

The James Lab is looking for a Temporary Laboratory Assistant, with potential to move to an ongoing position. This position will assist the Arthritis & Clinical Immunology Research Program with basic lab duties such as reagent disposition, cleanup, general lab maintenance, inventory, and preparing solutions. This position would also help with basic IT and administrative lab duties consisting of hard drive removal, data entry, scanning documents, archiving historical experimental data, and other duties as assigned.

 

Minimum Qualifications

The applicant should be highly organized and meticulous to ensure accuracy of data collection and recording with a willingness to learn new techniques and initiative to solve problems. The applicant should have a basic knowledge of routine technical/functional procedures and basic computer skills to include knowledge of internet software, order processing system, and Microsoft Offices software. The applicant must be detail-oriented and work as a team player with the ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. The ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is necessary. The candidate must have the ability to organize and perform precise and accurate work when dealing with samples and chemicals. Excellent organization, oral and written communication skills are required and the applicant must be professional, team oriented, and personable.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with administrative duties would be preferred. Mid-level experience with managing computer hardware, software, and Windows OS is recommended. A college degree in STEM related field is preferred, but not a requirement.
