Responsibilities

The OMRF Rheumatology Research Center of Excellence is looking for a temporary Phlebotomist/Medical Assistant that will be responsible for the following tasks:

 

• Responsible for collecting blood, urine, and other samples
• Obtains and understands specimen and test information
• Documents physician orders as required
• Retrieves orders, requisitions, and labels from EMR for accurate collection and labeling of specimens
• Processes samples by centrifugation, pipetting, aliquoting, and slide preparation as required by receiving clinical and research laboratories
• Prepares specimens for transport to lab
• Performs POC testing for CLIA-waived tests
• Maintains accurate records, documents and files as required for both clinical and research databases
• Provides patient results to physician offices, as necessary
• Restocks rooms and supply areas as needed
• Assists with clerical duties such as answering phones, preparing charts, charge entry, assessing and verifying patient test requests and billing information
• Assists nursing staff in obtaining vital signs, weight checks and general patient-comfort needs
• Transports patients and assists staff with moving patients with wheelchairs
• Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED or completed a Phlebotomy Program Experience: Previous experience as a phlebotomist.

 

Must demonstrate high attention to detail, dependability and willingness to learn. The ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, work independently, and demonstrate professionalism with diverse personalities and cultures are essential. 

Preferred Qualifications

Typically, Monday through Friday, 8:30AM to 5:00PM. However hours may vary with advanced notice depending on work load and need for office coverage.
