Responsibilities

The Ocañas Lab is seeking a part-time Laboratory Technician. 

 

Responsibilities will include:

  • Maintaining mouse colonies
  • Euthanizing animals and preparing tissue
  • Sectioning, staining, and imaging tissue sections
  • Performing molecular and biochemical analyses
  • Preparing and maintaining common lab reagents
  • Participation in lab and departmental meetings

Minimum Qualifications

Excellent organization skills. Must be team oriented, personable, and able to deal with diverse personalities. Must be able to take direction, follow instructions and keep meticulous records. Must be reliable and self-driven with a high attention to detail.

Preferred Qualifications

Basic knowledge of routine technical/functional laboratory procedures. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software. Must be detail oriented, organized, and able to work independently, as well as part of a team. Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Work Hours

Up to 20 hours per week, typically between the hours of 8:30AM to 5:00PM Monday through Friday.
